The new "Philipp" in Ludger Beerbaum's team wins
Great response from participants at the summer show

Where other horse show organizers have to struggle to attract enough riders with their steeds to their event, the starting fields at the Riesenbeck International summer show are almost bursting at the seams.

Show director Karsten Lütteken is pleased that more than 100 riders from 20 nations with their 300 horses have found their way to the equestrian center at the Surenburg. Word seems to have spread about the good conditions on site. A successful European Championship last year was a brightly shining calling card for further international events.

Already on the first day, a fabulous 112 starters wanted to ride towards the evening sun in the 1.35 meter two-star jumping competition in the grass stadium. Home rider Ludger Beerbaum started with his ten-year-old promising Oldenburg mare Mila, with whom he has already won a Grand Prix in the Longines Global Champions Tour series twice this season. 77 seconds were allowed on the large grass arena, Beerbaum allowed himself a round to enjoy for horse and rider and gladly accepted that he made two time faults with his mare. After all, a fine start is everything - and the score is always settled on the final day.
Immediately after the four-time Olympic champion, a rider started who is still beaming with the summer sun: the new German champion of the show jumpers, Katrin Eckermann, who was given the winner's sash at the national championships last weekend and was then thrown into the cool water ditch by her two colleagues on the winner's podium - as is usual with the riders - together with the show clothes. On her mare Chao Lee, who is only nine years old, she also allowed herself a time fault. Completely untypical, because she has already won several times in Riesenbeck in the fastest time - on Sundays, at the Grand Prix!
Janne-Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann already showed last weekend that she is as fit as ever shortly after the birth of her son Friedrich. She won the much acclaimed first Nations Cup of the season for Germany in Sopot, Poland, with the riders of the Beerbaum stable, Philipp Weishaupt and Christian Kukuk, and with European Champion Andre' Thieme. Now the Hamburg rider and home rider Christian Kukuk will ride against each other. Let's see which of the two will come out on top on the final day.
Philipp Weishaupt will be riding for the Berlin Eagles team this weekend at the Longines Global Tour leg in Stockholm. Instead, his namesake in the Ludger Beerbaum stables team, Philipp Hartmann, is active at his home tournament. The still new rider at the Beerbaum stable is busy collecting victory ribbons.
And also at this first highlight of the summer show, Hartmann left the 111 fellow riders behind him with his 12-year-old grey gelding Botaro bred in Westphalia and won (0/ 61.70) with a sensationally fast time ahead of the Hungarian Peter Szuhai (63.67) and Stephi de Boer (64.45). This is his first victory at an international show!

In the second division Kathrin Stolmeijer won on Ibiza Girl (0/63.46) ahead of Alina Hertwig (0/64.19) and the US-American Emily Short (0/64.46).

Many new faces from all over the world will give their best to cut a good figure in the middle of the horse country North Rhine-Westphalia and to qualify for higher tasks. Spectators are cordially invited to watch the competitions, which will be held all day on sand and grass.

The entrance is free, gastronomic delicacies, cool drinks and pleasant shade places are provided!
