Mexico Amigos win the Global Champions League of London
Team Riesenbeck International finish sixth
Following the home leg of the Global Champions League for Team Riesenbeck International, the series headed to the British capital for its tenth leg of the season. In London, against the impressive backdrop of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, team manager Ludger Beerbaum fielded Maximilian Weishaupt with Zuccero HV and Marco Kutscher with Pikeur Lemar NRW. The third rider on the team was Christian Kukuk, who qualified for the Grand Prix with Checker in the individual competition.
Weishaupt was the first rider to enter the arena and delivered a clear round with Zuccero HV. Kutscher and Pikeur Lemar NRW had one rail down, meaning the Riesenbeck team finished the first round on four penalties. In tenth place, the team narrowly qualified for the second and decisive round of the Top Ten. As the teams start in reverse order of the standings from the first round, Riesenbeck International opened the second round. Both Weishaupt and Kutscher had one fence down, leaving the team with a total of twelve penalties after both rounds.
Once again, Riesenbeck International was the only team not to change either horses or riders for the second round. This consistency was rewarded once again, as the team climbed from tenth place after the first round to sixth place in the final standings. None of the teams managed to complete both rounds without faults, with the victory in the Global Champions League of London going to the Mexico Amigos, represented by Belgian rider Zoe Hank Conter and Mexican rider Carlos Hank Guerreiro.
Following the tenth leg of the Global Champions League, Ludger Beerbaum said: “Even though luck was not entirely on our side today, we were still able to extend our lead in the overall standings a little further. That is, of course, very positive! Many thanks to Max, Marco and the entire team for your support and your performance!”
