With the win in the last leg of the Global Champions League in Valkenswaard behind them, Riesenbeck International headed to Vienna for the 12th leg of the season. Against the impressive backdrop of Schönbrunn Palace, team manager Ludger Beerbaum sent brothers Maximilian and Philipp Weishaupt into the arena in the first round with Zuccero HV and Oreo D.R. Both delivered confident, clear rounds, sending Riesenbeck into the second round of the Top Ten as the leaders. Only New York Empire also managed to qualify for the second round without any penalties on their scorecard.
As the last team to go in the second round, Riesenbeck could have afforded two time penalties, as New York Empire faltered and finished their round on a total of 13 penalties. The Scandinavian Vikings, who carried three time penalties from the first round, remained clear in the second round and took the lead. Maximilian Weishaupt and Zuccero HV once again put in a convincing performance in the second round and remained clear. Philipp Weishaupt, who switched to 10-year-old Kilmister for the second round, had one fence down. This left Riesenbeck on four penalties, behind the Scandinavian Vikings, securing second place in the Global Champions League in Vienna and, at the same time, their sixth podium finish of the season. With the final legs of the season still to come, Riesenbeck International continues to lead the overall standings.
