16 of the 20 top riders in the world ranking list at the start

July 7. 2023

World Champion Henrik von Eckermann and colleagues want to score points at the Longines Global Champions Tour

16 of the top 20 riders in the Longines World Ranking List have registered their attendance at the only German leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour in Riesenbeck (July 20-23). Among them: World Champion Henrik von Eckermann, the leader of the world rankings for the past year - and a former stablemate of the Beerbaum Stables riders. "Of course I'm coming to my old home and will try to dispute the prize money with my former colleagues," said Henrik von Eckermann with a grin. "I had my center of life here for many years and learned everything that will now benefit me in my self-employment."

Richard Vogel, the shooting star of the German show jumpers, is also looking forward to Riesenbeck. "For two years I was employed here. Here, the organizers of Riesenbeck International have created the best conditions for the riders and horses. There is no need for glamorous highlights. Because equestrian sport takes place here, which I am very much looking forward to," says the winner of the Allianz Prize at last weekend's CHIO Aachen.

Julien Epaillard (FRA) won the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Monte Carlo last Saturday and collected prize money of 495,000 euros. He will also be competing in Münsterland. Let's see who comes out on top this time. There are plenty of competitors.

For example, Martin Fuchs, who was able to win the prestigious Nations' Cup with the Swiss team in Aachen, and who has very good memories of the Riesenbeck grass arena as the runner-up in the 2021 European Show Jumping Championships.

"For me, this is the most beautiful confirmation of our work, that the best in the world come to us because they rely on us to create optimal conditions," said a delighted Ludger Beerbaum, the host, about the "fabulous reception" of his colleagues. Philipp Weishaupt, a member of Team Riesenbeck International in the Global Champions League, and almost uncatchable in the lead, has done the math: "No other show in Germany has as many riders in the top world rankings as we do!"

The spectators can look forward to Harrie Smolders and Maikel van der Vleuten (NED), to Simon Delestre (FRA), to Max Kühner riding for Austria, on Daniel Deusser (GER), Christian Ahlmann and many German top riders more.

And because - according to the philosophy of Riesenbeck International - it should not always be about the best of the best, but also give the youngsters a chance, the first German Championship for U25 riders will take place on the clay arena next to the grass stadium. Perhaps one or the other will have already climbed up a league in the coming years and will then also be allowed to perform on the grass arena.
