Irish Double Victory in the FEI Jumping European Championship for Juniors

July 12. 2025

Emily Moloney and Tabitha Kyle win individual Gold and Silver

The FEI Jumping European Championship for Juniors concluded with a resounding victory for Ireland’s Emily Moloney, who delivered a flawless performance throughout the event. Riding the grey Temple Alice, the 18-year-old did not touch a single rail and secured the gold medal and title in Riesenbeck with a final score of just 1.47 points. The silver medal went to her teammate Tabitha Kyle, who also remained faultless on Bp Goodfellas and crossed the finish line with 3.27 points from the very first speed and handiness class on Tuesday. Completing the podium were Liam Nilsson and Ulla Bella Hastak from Sweden (0/4.68).

The first individual medal decision of the 2025 FEI Jumping European Championships for Young Riders, Juniors, and Children turned out to be a true thriller. A total of 29 pairs began the 1.40 m jump over two rounds. Laura Andre (SUI) and the Holsteiner L.B. Zornell II by VDL Zirocco Blue had set the standard until then. The pair had made no mistakes in the preceding events and also completed the first round with a spotless vest. However, the Irish girls Emily Moloney with Temple Alice and Tabitha Kyle on Bp Goodfellas, the Monegasque Marie Eder Ferrero on Diaradius, Dutch rider Nina Houtzager with High Five, and the best German competitor, Naomi Himmelreich on the young Flying Kiss, all retained chances for a podium place, starting the second round with 1.84 penalty points or less.

The three medalists showed strong nerves in the Riesenbeck stadium and all finished without any rails down. For Emily Moloney, winning the first individual title is the biggest achievement of her career and a very emotional victory for the whole family. The Irish Sport Horse gelding Temple Alice, aged 13, by Foxglen Cruise Control, has faithfully served the Moloney family since Emily's father, Eddie, first brought him to a competition as a six-year-old. Swiss Laura Andre had two poles down with L.B. Zornell II and finished her European Championship in tenth place. Unfortunately, Naomi Himmelreich and Flying Kiss encountered a similar fate in the final: 12 penalty points dropped the pair to 14th place, which is far from a reflection of their otherwise sensational first championship. The best German pair were Fabio Thielen and Stakaya in ninth place. Emma Bachl on Condolcessa finished her championship in 21st place. Leo Renner decided to save his horse Ludwig and did not compete in the second round.
