Olympic Champions, World Champions, and European Champions visit Riesenbeck

September 3. 2025

The Longines Global Champions Tour and Global Champions League series attract the world's elite to the Münsterland region

The stage is set, the grand celebration of show jumping can begin! When the two show jumping series, the Longines Global Champions Tour and the Global Champions League, come to Riesenbeck (September 11-14) for the eleventh stage next week, the field of participants will leave nothing to be desired: the world's best show jumpers will be competing in the large grass stadium. And in the sand stadium next door, the U-25 riders will be competing for the German Championships for the third time.

Riesenbeck is the only stage of the two high-prize series to take place on German soil. “We are really looking forward to presenting top-class sport again. We also attach great importance to ensuring that riders and horses can take a breather between competitions at our facility, which is surrounded by forests and meadows,” says tournament director Karsten Lütteken. With free admission on the opening day and attractive ticket options on the following days, the organizing team hopes that many visitors will make the pilgrimage to the spacious equestrian facility on the edge of the Surenburger Forest to experience Olympic champions, world champions, and international champions with their top horses up close.

The 2020 Olympic team champion and 2022 double world champion, Henrik von Eckermann (Sweden), is happy to return to his former workplace. Ben Maher, two-time Olympic team champion (2012, 2024) and individual gold medalist in 2020, will also be competing. He will be bringing his compatriot Scott Brash, who also won two Olympic team titles (2012, 2024). Other highly decorated riders will also be there, such as Peder Fredricson (SWE), Maikel van der Vleuten (NED), Max Kühner (AUT), Pieter Devos (BEL), and – not to forget – the medal winners and serial winners from Germany: Marcus Ehning, Hans-Dieter Dreher, Philipp Weishaupt, Christian Ahlmann, Jana Wargers, Katrin Eckermann, Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann. And, of course, the reigning European champion Richard Vogel and the Olympic champion from Paris, Christian Kukuk, who wants to use his home game to collect points for Team Riesenbeck International in the Global Champions League.

In the team series, Valkenswaard United leads with 218 points, followed by the Shanghai Swans (203) and the Cannes Stars women's team (198) – German riders are an important pillar in all three teams. Riesenbeck International is currently in sixth place with 144 points. With Emanuele Camilli (ITA), Christian Kukuk, and Philipp Weishaupt, the home team will try to close the gap on Saturday afternoon.

On Sunday, the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Riesenbeck will be all about winning the title and a large prize money, thereby securing participation in the LGCT Super Cup in Prague. Thanks to his victory in London, Christian Kukuk already has this ticket in his pocket.

While the sport's big names compete on the grass arena, the 30 best young German riders in the U-25 age group will crown their national champion for the third time – or, as was the case last year with Clara Blau, their champion.
