As in the previous year, the CSI** in Riesenbeck opened the indoor season for international show jumping. Over the course of three days, participants delivered exciting performances in various competitions, where both experienced riders and young talents from different nations showcased their skills.
One of the many highlights of the event was Thursday’s 2* Longines Ranking class with obstacles set at a height of 1.45m. Sixty-four riders competed for placements and valuable points for the world ranking list. In the end, Wilhelm Winkler took the lead with his horse Calissi, closely followed by Mario Stevens and Justine Tebbel.
Saturday also offered numerous finals and thrilling competitions.
For the first time, Riesenbeck was a stop on the European Youngster Cup. U25 riders are given the opportunity to compete at renowned tournaments on an international level and collect valuable ranking points. The highlight of the event was the Grand Prix of the EY Cup. Nine riders remained faultless in the 1.45m round and qualified for the jump-off. After an exciting jump-off, Johanna Beckmann, just like the day before, secured the win with Queen Frieda, thereby earning her ticket to the final in Salzburg this December.
Another highlight of October 5th was the Grand Prix of Riesenbeck, which was contested for the prize of the Prestige company.
In a top-tier starting field of 59 participants, riders competed in a 1.45m class on Saturday evening. Twelve riders qualified for the jump-off and fought for the victory. In the end, Leopold Van Asten claimed the win with Vdl Groep Kira and was delighted to receive a new Prestige saddle as an honorary prize.
Carsten-Otto Nagel finished second with GK Curacao, followed by Jörg Naeve with Benur du Romet in third place.
With a diverse field of participants and exciting competitions, the CSI** marked a successful start to the 2024 indoor season, sparking excitement for the events ahead.
