July 17. 2024

22 Olympic participants make a stopover in Riesenbeck

On their way to the Olympic Games to the beautiful equestrian center in front of the imposing Versailles Castle, 22 show jumpers and their horses are making a stopover in the tranquil Münsterland region. At the Riesenbeck International Equestrian Center, in the immediate vicinity of the historic moated castle of Surenburg, the training level of riders and horses will be checked one last time from Thursday to Sunday at a top-class international five-star equestrian tournament.

Olympic candidate José María Larocca jr. (ARG) and Belgians Jerome Guery, Gilles Thomas and Nicola Philippaerts will be there. Mario Deslauriers has traveled from Canada and Saro Manuel Fernandez is coming from Spain. Simon Delestre (FRA) and Maikel van der Vleuten (NED) will be at the start, Pius Schwizer comes from Switzerland. The three Olympians Eugenio Garza Perez, Andres Azcarraga and Hank Guerreiro come from Mexico.  Ioli Mytilinaiou will be competing for Greece in Paris, while Emanuele Camilli comes from Italy.  Eiken Sato (JPN) already competed at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Kristaps Neretnieks will represent Latvia in Paris and Riesenbeck.

The 2021 Olympic champion in Tokyo, Ben Maher (GBR), wants to repeat his success. Kent Farrington and Laura Kraut (both USA) have also already won Olympic medals. This is the big goal of the German team, which will be competing with Christian Kukuk, Philipp Weishaupt, Richard Vogel and Jana Wargers.

Experience the who's who of equestrianism up close, get autographs and experience top-class sport. The organizers of Riesenbeck International around show director Karsten Lütteken have completed the preparations. The grass in the stadium is lush green, the grounds are shining brightly and the weather forecast is also more than promising.

“We are looking forward to four days of great show jumping and good entertainment and are sure that our spectators will welcome all participants, whether U25 riders, the numerous German riders, world champions or future Olympic champions, with great applause,” says Karsten Lütteken.
